Kisangani: A plot of land acquired for USD 250,000 by FRIVAO raises suspicions of overbilling

23/04/2026

An inspection mission conducted on Tuesday, April 14, 2026, in Kisangani by the interim chairman of the FRIVAO board of directors, Dismas Kitenge Senga, revealed a disbursement of approximately US$250,000 for the acquisition of a plot of land intended for the construction of a hospital in Cité Paradis, an amount considered controversial.

During this visit, the interim chairman of the board reviewed financial documents detailing this disbursement for the acquisition of a plot estimated to contain about ten vacant lots, according to sources close to the matter.

These same sources also mention a commission estimated at nearly US$19 million in connection with this transaction, fueling suspicions of irregularities and possible overbilling surrounding the project. In light of this information, the official announced the submission of a report to the supervisory authority and to the FRIVAO bodies. He also called for an investigation to establish responsibility in this matter.

The hospital project, intended to improve access to healthcare for the population of Kisangani, is part of a broader context of significant FRIVAO fund management, earmarked for financing social initiatives benefiting victims. While awaiting potential administrative or legal action, the case continues to generate reactions among the local public.
