The governor of the city-province of Kinshasa, Gentiny Ngobila Mbaka, promised the pure and simple demolition of the anarchic constructions erected in the cemetery of Kinsuka in the commune of Mont Ngafula, during his descent Thursday on this site illegally occupied to date.

“This operation will take place next Wednesday with the City Hall demolition squad who will raze all the houses there and no compensation will be given to those who built on this site by desecrating the graves,” he said. he declared, thus warning anyone who would dare to claim any compensation to be arrested for desecration of the resting place of the dead.

He recalled in passing that this cemetery has been closed by one of its predecessors since 2015 because there was no more space for burials.

The number one of the city of Kinshasa recalled the need to respect the dead according to Congolese habits and customs, especially since the decommissioning can only take place 50 years after the burial of the last body.

The governor took the opportunity to question the customary chiefs on their duty, that of protecting the land and not selling it, because they do not have the competence.

The urban authority has promised to continue the same operation in other cemeteries in the same situation, in particular that of Kasa-Vubu which has never been abandoned.
